BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After setting Florida A&M Volleyball up with a perfect 2-0 week, student-athlete
Bengisu Kazazlar has been named Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Setter of the Week for the period of October 6-12, announced Tuesday by the league office from its headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama.
In a pair of wins away in the "Magnolia State,"
Bengisu Kazazlar, a 5-foot-9 senior setter from Izmir, Turkey, registered 43 assists, 13 digs, five service aces and a kill with Florida A&M collecting wins from Mississippi Valley State and Jackson State, respectfully.
With the Rattlers taking a 3-1 win over Jackson State, Kazazlar handed out a team-high 22 assists – notching her fifth match of the season with at last 20 assists, while also recording 10 digs for her second double-double of the campaign in the process.
In a similar 3-1 win over Mississippi Valley State, the former Xavier (La.) product turned up with 21 assists, a season-high matching three service aces and three digs for the Orange and Green.
Prairie View A&M saw teammates Iyonna Sherwood (Offensive Player of the Week) and Camille Middleton (Defensive Player of the Week) collected weekly awards. While it was Bethune-Cookman's Alaya Rhodes (Newcomer of the Week) rounding out this week's recipients.
FAMU returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 7, when the Rattlers welcome in-state foe Bethune-Cookman for a key SWAC contest at Al Lawson Center beginning at 6 p.m.
